Downtown:
In Fall 2024 additional public space will be open on the first floor of the downtown library.

 

Patio Service has resumed on the Downtown Patio. It runs Wednesdays and Fridays until October from 10am-1pm. (weather permitting)

 

The Downtown redesign includes some exciting new and updated spaces:
-    HPL Studios 
-    A performance and events space 
-    A more interactive Hartford History Center 
-    A new approach to The American Place

Albany:
The renovations and expansion of the Albany Library has entered a crucial schematic design phase, which will flesh out how the library looks and functions. We currently have renderings and are working with the design firm on functional changes. The next steps will be to transition into the design development phase. 

 

We hope to have an expected groundbreaking in 2025.

 

Barbour:
The new Barbour Library is in the design development phase. 

We will be hosting more community discussions on inside needs and wants and are working with local fiber artists and community artists to incorporate local art into the design. 

 

We expect a Summer 2024 groundbreaking.

 

Goodwin:
The Goodwin Branch is currently being used as offices for staff members who were temporarily displaced while the Downtown Library is under construction. It is closed to the public.

 

HPL will continue to use the Goodwin Branch as library support space after staff moves back Downtown. We are currently contemplating the future, which may include use as programming space and community use.
